MCMMO Level Update

Super excited for our latest update! This update lets you use your MCMMO levels for a variety of extra perks across the server – with more coming in the future!

MCMMO and the BoonDollar Currency

Our server is “Semi-Vanilla”, meaning you can ignore the plugin stuff if you aren’t interested. But we do have MCMMO – allowing you to “level up” skills as you use them. We also leverage MCMMO for our “currency” system of BoonDollars – unique items that are popular trade goods at shops around the Spawn Town.

Earning BoonDollars

BoonDollars are earned as Excavation rewards at any level with MCMMO. Dig something up, and a BoonDollar might pop out!

BoonDollars can be traded at Spawn for BoonBucks (10:1), and BoonBucks can be traded for BoonBonds (10:1) – so 100 BoonDollars would be 1 BoonBond.

Our most recent update doesn’t change this – but it also allows you to earn Boons through 2 other mechanisms!

Exploration Rewards

We added several traders just outside the Spawn building that want to buy your unique findings! You can now sell Pottery Sherds for 2 BoonBucks, Records for 3 BoonBucks , Heart of the Sea for 15 BoonBucks, Totem of the Undying for 5 BoonBonds, a Dragon Head or Echo Shard for 1 BoonBond, or a Totem of Undying for 5 BoonBonds!

Selling MCMMO Levels

This update also lets you SELL your hard-earned MCMMO levels for Boons!

To sell your MCMMO levels, you must be at least level 1,000 in the skill you wish to sell. You can sell 5 levels of your skill for 1 BoonBond (100 BoonDollars).

There will eventually be a shrine at Spawn to allow this exchange directly, but in the meantime you can use command /exchange -skillname- (example: /exchange mining) to make the trade.

Buying New Abilities

The biggest bonus of this update is the ability to spend Boons to directly impact your MCMMO abilities – or gain other perks!

Buying XP

We have had villagers at Spawn for the last year that would be more than willing to exchange your Boons for skill points – now this is extended to virtually every skill – spending BoonBonds for XP.

The command is /buylevel -skillname- (example: /buylevel mining), which will let you exchange BoonBonds for 100,000 XP in that skill. The amount of Bonds required for the XP varies by skill:

SkillBoonBonds Required
Excavation1
Herbalism2
Mining1
Woodcutting3
Axes4
Archery3
Crossbow4
Swords4
Taming4
Tridents4
Unarmed4
Acrobatics1
Repair5
Fishing3
Smelting5
Alchemy6
Salvage5
Maces4

There will eventually be a Shrine available for each skill to facilitate the exchange, but commands will work in the meantime.

Buying Homes

You can also now buy additional /homes! All players start with 3 homes – your 4th home will cost 4 BoonBonds, with each additional home costing 50% more than the one before it (5th home being 15 Bonds, ect).

This can be executed with the command /addhomeperm for now (a Shrine will be added later).

Buying Fly

The /fly command has been based on being a member of the server for a full year. This command is also now based on the new exchange system – it costs 100 BoonBonds to buy the /fly ability. If you have enough BoonBonds, the command is /addflyperm (again, a shrine will be added for this later).

Prestige System

We also added a new Prestige system for every skill!

If you level up a skill all the way to 1,000, you have the option to use /prestige -skillname- (example: /prestige mining) to Prestige that skill.

Adding Prestige to a skill removes the equivalent XP of going from Level 0 to Level 1,000 – but it gives you a permanent 1.5x XP bonus to that skill going forward – making it easier to level up!

The Final Word

MCMMO now has bigger impacts across a wider range of the game – encouraging players to “cash in” their levels for more homes, new commands, and other perks. You can indirectly swap XP between skills by selling levels and buying a different skill, or Prestige a skill to get an XP boost going forward.

Players are still encouraged to trade BoonDollars in shops at spawn, but the villagers at Spawn are also willing to buy unique loot for Boons as well, rewarding player exploration.

As a last note, this will eventually replace our Prime system – players who have extra homes and the /fly command just because they have been part of the server for more than a year will eventually lose that perk, and will need to trade in Boons to re-gain their /fly command (and additional homes).
